Our Work

Heartland Green is improving the lives of communities in Mungwi, a predominantly rural district where poverty is widespread and most households rely on subsistence farming. Our initiatives focus on sustainable development, with the aim of creating lasting positive change for both people and the environment.

Job Creation

We create employment opportunities for local residents, particularly in sustainable forest management. This includes activities such as beekeeping, mushroom farming, castor seed conservation farming. We are also committed to the restoration and preservation of indigenous trees, including wild fruit trees. Additionally, we provide a market for indigenous foods to promote conservation efforts and support the sustainable farming of crops like groundnuts and beans, which in turn helps to improve local livelihoods.

Educational Support

We aim to bridge the education gap by promoting skills development in conservation and sustainable practices. Our programmes are designed to benefit both young and old, and we partner with local chiefs and schools to deliver educational initiatives that raise awareness and build knowledge of environmental sustainability.

Environmental Conservation

We encourage sustainable agriculture and land-use practices that reduce the reliance on methods harmful to local forests. By promoting these practices, we help protect the environment while simultaneously improving the livelihoods of local communities.
Through our focus on community development and environmental protection, Heartland Green is working to create a more sustainable and prosperous future for the residents of Mungwi.
